Hi!
Just thought I’d share a little about myself…I’m 38 years old, and have 4 kids;18,16,14 and 11. I’m currently going to school for my GED and then to become a dental assistant, possibly, will meet with career councelor first.
Besides all that I’m a wife and mom and figure competitor through a natural federation called the NANBF. I LOVE competing and all that comes with it and am passionate about figure competition as well as the healthy lifestyle. More than my passion for this though is my passion or God and all He’s done in my life. For all I do the Glory is HIS!
I also do figure prep instruction and posing instruction as well as clinics and one on one sessions for these things. I can be contacted via e-mail at fit4figure@gmail.com. I’m also available for online training/coaching. My husband Jim and i have a successful track record with helping women prepare to compete, or just make progress in heir tranformation journey!
I began my transformation with Body For Life by Bill Phillips in 2004 along with my husband Jim. It was a great time, for us and completely changed our lives, of course we also hit a horrible bump in the road which will be shared very soon.
For everything I have today, i’m forever grateful…more than words can ever do justice. I see life so differently now and am excited to live it, yet am forever humbled.
I want to share my life both good and bad , and ups and downs with the hope it helps those reading in some way, and inspires others to go for your goals and dreams and to learn to move on when we really blow things, to also share God’s love and goodness.
I hope you will join me in my continuing journey and drop in and share yours as well!!

I have also added comments or stories to each picture explaining what they are….

I’m so excited to hear from you!!
How are you? Please feel free to e-mail me at fit4figure@gmail.com
Thank-you for your excitement and support, it comes at a great time since being sick has put me down for 2 weeks…I am excited to see what 2009 brings as well….just this time i’m gaurding myself from getting out of balance as far as mindset and priorities. I learned a few things from my last 2 comps, and am holding tight to those lessons.
I hope to see you soon as well, let me know what’s up and if your competing again.
Love and hugs!
I am so happy to have reconnected with you Tonia! Glad to see things have worked out for you and you are going strong.

I WANT your legs!!! they are absolutely beautifu!
Thanks Elizabeth and Tracey!
Tracey,
That makes my day, as I work soooo hard to get any size to them, so i’m most critical of that part! LOL!!
Great to see you competing again!
Hi Rene!!!
Thanks so much!!! I’m excited to see that you and your wife are also doing a show!!
Congratulations to you!!
Are you doing any comps any time soon?
My next show is going to be in des moines? Is you husband still a judge for nanbf???
I don’t think Jim will be judging that show since i’m in it, because he will be helping me throughout, but who knows they may need him, so we’ll see how it plays out.
How’s your prep going? I’m at the stage where the diet is getting mentally tough, because I want sugar sooooo bad, but i’m not giving in, just battling through it..lol!!!
Tonia,
Have you always been fit, I see the before pictures. How long did it take to loose the weight and get in shape? I’m 41 mother of 3 20, 14, 7 I’m also over weight by 30 or 40 lbs. I’m also going to school to get my GED and wanting to become a dental assistant. I’ve always loved body building since I was a teenager ( back in the 80’s). Do you have any tips on how to get started?
Thank you,
Jennifer
Hi Jennifer!
I was very tiny through highschool then once I became a mom after getting married, is when I started letting myself go, so to speak. My first pregnancy I lost the weight but each pregnancy became harder to do so, until after my 4th child, I started to gain and did for a while, until my hubby found a book called Body for Life. We were skeptical, yet hopeful about being able to follow somthing so simple and practical and achieve results, but we stuck with it and followed it to a “T” including the cheat day each week and the results are those before and after pics you see above. That “formal” before wasn’t even my heaviest. I had not wanted to take a BFL “before” pic and didn’t decide to just take one until 1 week into it. By that time i’d already lost 3 pounds and had lost 7 prior to finding BFL just from switching to diet pop, from regular pop.
While i was thin is highschool, I never was athletic and was only into dance at that time.
My husband was even more overweight and I believe lost over 50lbs if i remember right.
For me it took 14 weeks to lose the weight but I only had around 15-18lbs of excess weight. I have seen woman with 30-40lbs be able to lose it after various amounts of time usually within 6-12 months, just depending on how committed you are to achieving you goal and how hard you are willing to work. It takes weight training, and we’re not talking pink dumbell/Jane Fonda training either, cardio and eating a very good diet with proper portion sizes. All 3 serve a purpose. My hubby and i used the book and recipes from Eating for Life by Bill phillips to really learn how to eat healthy but still have really yummy foods. Those tools gave us an excellent start, they are principles we have adopted as a lifestyle now and have built upon.
By built upon I mean we have changed the weight training plans to fit being a figure competitor and the diet plan to be able to prepare for competing is much more strict now.
It’s so cool that you have been familiar with bodybuilding and all since your teens, and that we are both pursuing our GED’s and Dental assistant goals! Tooo cool!!
My tips for you are to just start, dont over think anything just start. If you can join a gym, that’s ideal for weights, cardio and staying motivated. If you can hire a trainer even if just to get you started or to train once a week, do it. Clean up your diet by getting rid of sugary and high fat foods. Instead choosing good lowfat quality protein sources such as boneless/skinless chicken breast, lean beef, turkey,eggs/eggwhites,skim or 1% cottage cheese, skim milk, mozzerella cheese sticks. Complex carbs such as brown rice instead of white or box mixes, whole wheat pasta instead of white, 100% whole grain bread, sweet potatoes, etc… Body for Life by Bill Phillips as well as the cook book Eating for Life offer great starting places for setting you up with all the how to’s and why’s to e successful. You lose the bodyfat, stoke the metabolism with some new muscle and then you have a foundation to build pursue bodybuilding if you decide you want to.
The important thing is to build a strong healthy body and be able to feel great!!
Before i got in shape, and started eating properly, i was miserable and beyond tired. I’d literally be crying lying on my couch, knowing i had to get up and make dinner and knowing i had no energy and was weak. i didn’t like doing things any more because i was always tired. My life is so completely different now just because i got healthy and feel better.
Let me know if you have any further questions. Sorry that was so long!
Here ya go Jennifer…This is the link to a little about us and towards the bottom there’s a link with our tranformation story from Real Solutions mag…..
